Tailoring The Message to Stakeholder Groups
Pain management is a vital process for healthcare professionals, patients, and their families. The symptom requires proactive measures to protect patients from severe discomfort and negative cancer progress. Clinicians need adequate knowledge of alternative and evidence-based practices that improve patients’ quality of life (Scarborough & Smith, 2018).
Non-pharmacological supportive psychotherapy is an ideal option for patients and healthcare professionals to improve pain scores. The focus of this project is to implement supportive psychotherapy for effective pain management among cancer patients.
The stakeholders for this project include the chief nursing officer, the nursing manager, patients, and their families, the nursing team, and psychotherapists. The stakeholders understand the need for effective treatment of pain to make patients comfortable. The chief nursing officer, nursing managers, and the nursing team understand the need for the facility to enhance brand credibility by delivering quality and safe care.
The parties have experiences as frontline staff who understand patients’ pain and the interventions required to optimize outcomes. In other words, the CNO, nursing manager, and the nursing team understand cancer patients’ demands. The group acknowledges the need for evidence-based practices for improving pain scores.
Physicians can also provide insights into the challenges of managing pain and alternatives available to improve the situation. Psychotherapists are also vital for this project because of their adequate knowledge of the role of non-pharmacological interventions in improving pain management. The professionals understand the different approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, relaxation, and other practices that enable patients to manage pain (Kress et al., 2015).
